Colton Herta will drive for Cadillac in the opening practice session at the São Paulo Grand Prix, replacing Sergio Pérez in the MAC-26 for FP1, the team confirmed Tuesday, November 3.

The session will be Herta’s first at Interlagos. Cadillac said the outing continues his practice work with the team this season; Herta referred to previous sessions in Barcelona, Budapest, Austin and Mexico City in the announcement.

Team principal Marcin Budkowski said Herta’s feedback would contribute to Cadillac’s 2027 development program. Herta said his goal was to complete the run plan and provide setup information for Pérez and the engineers at the start of the weekend.

Interlagos measures 4.309 kilometers, or 2.677 miles, and combines long corners, elevation changes and weather that can change quickly. Cadillac described the circuit’s setup demands as balancing high-speed stability with traction through the technical middle section.

The confirmed assignment is an FP1 appearance in Pérez’s place. The team announcement does not establish a 2027 race seat for Herta or certify completion of his superlicense requirements.
