Le Havre academy director Jaïr Karam has taken interim charge of the first team for Sunday’s Ligue 1 match against Lorient, the club confirmed Monday.

Karam led his first training session in the role Monday. He takes over a team sitting last in the league with two points.

The 50-year-old former French Guiana coach joined Le Havre in 2022 after coaching Poitiers and Chamalières. He has worked with the club’s reserve and under-19 teams and became academy director two years ago.

Le Havre said academy coaches were joining the first-team staff to support Karam for the assignment. The club has not announced a permanent coaching appointment.
