RJ Harvey Ruled Out Against Chiefs With Knee Injury

Harvey missed Friday practice and is out November 1, leaving Denver without a back who scored on a 52-yard reception last week.

RJ Harvey has been ruled out of the Denver Broncos’ November 1 game against the Kansas City Chiefs because of a knee injury. Denver’s final report Friday, October 30, listed the running back as unavailable after he missed practice.

Harvey first appeared on the injury report Thursday, when he was a limited participant. He did not practice Friday. Denver has not announced a return date. The confirmed absence removes him from Sunday’s divisional matchup rather than leaving a questionable designation to be resolved before kickoff.

The second-year back has 24 carries for 87 yards and a rushing touchdown this season.

His receiving contribution was evident in last Sunday’s 30–16 victory at Arizona, when he turned a screen pass from Bo Nix into a 52-yard touchdown, the longest play of his NFL career.

Harvey finished his rookie season with 540 rushing yards and seven rushing touchdowns on 146 carries. He also caught 47 passes for 356 yards and five scores. Denver selected the former UCF running back in the second round of the 2025 draft, sixtieth overall.

Jonah Coleman returned from his own injury absence against Arizona and gained 54 yards on nine carries, averaging six yards per attempt. It was his first game since Week 2. J.K. Dobbins also scored against the Cardinals, his third consecutive game with a rushing touchdown. Coleman also caught two passes for 15 yards.

The Broncos generated 159 rushing yards and 377 total yards in that win. Harvey’s touchdown followed a blocked punt by fullback Adam Prentice early in the third quarter, giving Denver another explosive score after Nix’s 62-yard touchdown run before halftime.

Denver hosts Kansas City at Empower Field at Mile High at 4:25 p.m. EST Sunday on CBS. The Broncos enter at 5–2 following three consecutive victories, while the Chiefs are 5–1.
