Report: Albert Pujols Set to Interview for Astros Manager Job
ESPN reports Pujols is scheduled to meet with Houston on Thursday as the Astros continue their managerial search.
Albert Pujols is scheduled to interview for the Houston Astros’ managerial vacancy Thursday, ESPN reported, citing sources familiar with the search.
The meeting would be Pujols’ first in-person interview with Houston. The Astros are considering other candidates, including Yankees bench coach Brad Ausmus, according to ESPN. The club has not announced a hiring.
Houston’s new general manager, Randy Flores, played alongside Pujols with the St. Louis Cardinals from 2004 through 2008. They were teammates on the 2006 World Series championship club.
Pujols, 46, has managed the Dominican Republic in the World Baseball Classic and won a Dominican winter league championship with Leones del Escogido in January 2025. He interviewed for the Angels’ and Padres’ managerial openings during the previous hiring cycle.
