Quentin Halys Saves Four Match Points to Knock Tiafoe Out of Paris
Halys beat Frances Tiafoe 6–3, 1–6, 7–6(9) and will face Tommy Paul in the Paris Masters round of 16.

Quentin Halys saved four match points to beat Frances Tiafoe 6–3, 1–6, 7–6(9) in the second round of the Paris Masters on Wednesday. The Frenchman won in one hour and 57 minutes and will next face Tommy Paul, the tournament reported.
Halys controlled the opening set before No. 7 seed Tiafoe won seven consecutive games, taking the second set and moving ahead in the decider. The American later served for the match.
Halys broke back without conceding a point in that game, forcing the contest toward a deciding tiebreak. He then survived four opportunities for Tiafoe to close out the match before securing his own victory.
The result was Halys’ second career win over a top-10 opponent, according to the tournament’s report. It also kept the home player in the draw after a match in which he had struggled for much of the second and third sets.
Paul advanced by beating Daniel Merida 6–1, 6–1 in 48 minutes earlier Wednesday. The American remained in contention for an ATP Finals place as he moved into the round of 16.
