Mikaela Shiffrin to Skip Levi Slalom and Return at Killington
Shiffrin’s early-season focus on giant slalom and super-G will keep her out of next weekend’s World Cup slalom in Finland.

Mikaela Shiffrin will skip the Nov. 14 World Cup slalom in Levi, Finland, and resume racing at Killington, Vermont, on Nov. 28 and 29, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation said.
Shiffrin is racing fewer slaloms early this season to devote more training time to giant slalom and super-G. The decision gives the six-time overall World Cup champion a five-week break from racing after the season opener in Sölden, Austria.
Killington will hold giant slalom on Saturday, Nov. 28, and slalom on Sunday, Nov. 29. The Vermont stop is back after a year off while the resort replaced a chairlift.
U.S. Ski & Snowboard said Thursday that Shiffrin will also host a live taping of her podcast on Nov. 27, before the race bib draw. The taping starts at 4:45 p.m. ET and will be followed by a session with U.S. teammates, including Paula Moltzan.
