Medvedev Wins 25th Title With Almaty Final Comeback
Daniil Medvedev rallied past Nikoloz Basilashvili in three sets to defend a title successfully for the first time and claim his fourth trophy of 2026.

Daniil Medvedev won his 25th ATP Tour title and completed the first successful title defense of his career Sunday, defeating qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili 6–7(6), 6–1, 6–3 in the Almaty Open final.
The top seed recovered after Basilashvili won the opening tiebreak 8–6. The match at Almaty Arena lasted one hour and 53 minutes, according to the tournament’s official report.
Medvedev struck 22 aces and converted four of his 10 break-point opportunities. He did not lose a service game, as Vienna’s tournament report also confirmed.
Basilashvili had come through qualifying and beaten Stefanos Tsitsipas in the semifinals. Medvedev reached the final after Alexander Bublik retired from their semifinal with a right knee injury.
The victory was Medvedev’s fourth tour-level title of 2026 and his second consecutive Almaty championship. The former world No. 1 now moves to the Vienna ATP 500, where he is seeded third and faces Daniel Mérida in the opening round.
