Katerina Siniakova beat Ashlyn Krueger 6–1, 6–0 on Sunday to win the Japan Open in Osaka, collecting her sixth career WTA singles title and her first since Nanchang in 2023.

The Czech needed 64 minutes to finish the final. After leading 2–1 in the first set, she won the last 10 games.

Siniakova, the world No. 1 in doubles, finished with 16 winners and 19 unforced errors. Krueger recorded 10 winners and 34 unforced errors, according to the WTA’s official match report.

The champion dropped only one set during the tournament. Her route included victories over second seed Peyton Stearns, Magda Linette, Mary Stoiana and eighth seed Katie Boulter before Sunday’s final.

Krueger had beaten top seed Ann Li in three sets Saturday to reach her first tour-level final of the season. The American had won her first WTA singles title in Osaka in 2023.

Sunday’s result improved Siniakova’s record in WTA singles finals to 6–5. Krueger, playing her third tour-level final, is 1–2 in those matches.
