Kroenke Sports & Entertainment has reached a definitive agreement to acquire a controlling interest in the Los Angeles Angels from the Moreno family. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary conditions and approval from Major League Baseball. A purchase price was not disclosed.

The agreement ends Arte Moreno’s 23-year ownership of the franchise. The Angels are 53–85 this season, tied for the worst record in the American League, and have not posted a winning season since 2015.

For Kroenke, the work extends beyond adding another club. The Angels need a lasting baseball-operations reset, a long-term stadium plan and a reason for a frustrated fan base to believe the organization is changing. The club is headed toward its 11th consecutive losing season and 12th straight year without a playoff appearance.

Kroenke called the Angels “a storied franchise anchored in a great market.” The sale gives the franchise a new owner. The harder work begins after the paperwork.
