Kirill Kaprizov reached 500 career NHL points Sunday as the Minnesota Wild defeated the Washington Capitals 5–1 at Capital One Arena. The milestone left the winger with 245 goals and 255 assists through 413 regular season games, adding another round number to his Minnesota scoring record. His career production works out to approximately 1.21 points per regular season game.

His empty net goal at 19:02 tied Evgeni Malkin for fourth fastest among active players to 500 points, reached in 413 games.

Kaprizov finished the afternoon with 15 goals and 10 assists in 16 games this season. Those 25 points followed a productive October that had already earned him the NHL’s Second Star of the Month award.

He scored 14 times in 15 October appearances and added 10 assists, helping Minnesota finish the month atop the Central Division. The goal total matched his own franchise record for a calendar month, first established in March 2022. He also had three winning goals and 51 shots during October.

The career ledger shows repeated scoring at that level. Kaprizov recorded 51 points as a rookie, then 108 in 2021–22, followed by seasons of 75, 96, 56 and 89 points. His 47 goals and 61 assists in 2021–22 remain the largest single season totals in those categories on that ledger.

Sunday’s team result required Minnesota to protect an early lead before three late goals widened the margin. Washington scored late in the second period but could not complete the comeback. The Capitals fell to 8–5–0, while the Wild improved to 10–3–3.

Kaprizov is the second player to reach 500 points for Minnesota. Former captain Mikko Koivu finished with 709, putting the next franchise benchmark 209 points ahead. Kaprizov has reached his current total entirely with the Wild since joining the NHL in the 2020–21 season.
