The league will donate $20,000 to two nonprofits selected by the Minnesota Lynx guard.

Minnesota Lynx guard Kayla McBride received the 2026 WNBA Cares Community Assist Award, the league announced Thursday.
The WNBA cited McBride’s work supporting youth programs, mental health services and families in Minneapolis. Her partnership with the Washburn Center for Children dates to 2024.
The league will donate $20,000 in recognition of the award, divided equally between Play Your Way! MN and Girl Scouts River Valleys, the nonprofits McBride selected.
McBride’s work during the season included mentoring middle school girls, visiting pediatric patients at Mayo Clinic Children’s and providing back-to-school support.
A committee of WNBA and NBA leadership selected the winner.
