Mississippi State confirmed Tuesday that quarterback Kamario Taylor will miss the rest of the 2026 season because of a foot injury requiring surgery.

The university’s statement resolves the uncertainty surrounding his availability after he aggravated the problem against Oklahoma. Earlier reporting had described a recurring toe injury and a planned specialist assessment.

Taylor left that game after 12 plays and watched the remainder in a walking boot, according to Monday’s account of the injury.

The Bulldogs now prepare for Texas knowing their starting quarterback cannot return this season. Billy Puckett has played during Taylor’s absences, though the final starting assignment still belongs to the team’s announcement.

The official update changes the preparation picture from a week-to-week availability question to a season-ending absence. The announcement removes Taylor from consideration for the remaining regular-season games. Mississippi State must organize its remaining offense around the available quarterbacks while Taylor focuses on the procedure and his recovery. The statement does not establish a timetable for his next competitive appearance.
