Central Michigan quarterback Angel Flores will miss the remainder of the 2026 season after undergoing ankle surgery, according to an injury update published Tuesday. The development turns a recent absence into a longer-term change at the position for the Chippewas.

RotoWire, citing Andrew E. Graham of Mitten Football, reported the season-ending news. Flores did not play in Saturday’s game against Miami of Ohio, with Jadyn Glasser taking the starting assignment in his place.

Flores’ value to Central Michigan has extended well beyond passing volume. He totaled 475 passing yards, two passing touchdowns and two interceptions, alongside 618 rushing yards and four scores on the ground before the season-ending update.

The school’s official statistics list Flores and Glasser among its passing leaders. Losing Flores therefore changes both the available quarterback options and the way the offense can distribute its rushing workload.

His mobility was especially visible against Western Michigan earlier this month. Central Michigan’s official game notes recorded 117 rushing yards on a career-high 31 attempts, together with 162 passing yards. That was his fourth 100-yard rushing performance of the season.

Glasser completed 18 of 31 passes for 221 yards and a touchdown in the 28–27 loss to Miami of Ohio. Those results give the coaching staff a recent game to evaluate as it prepares to proceed without Flores, although one appearance does not establish the exact approach for every remaining opponent.

The adjustment is not simply a matter of replacing one passing total with another. Flores carried a substantial part of the running game, so Central Michigan must decide how to distribute those plays among the quarterback, running backs and other offensive personnel.

The next depth chart and coaching updates will clarify the immediate plan. The reported surgery ends the possibility of a 2026 return for Flores, while the remaining quarterbacks have an opportunity to establish continuity over the rest of the schedule.

For the Chippewas, the priority is now to build around the personnel available rather than planning for a short absence at the position.
