Bayern Gives Vincent Kompany Recovery Time With No Return Date Set
Vincent Kompany is recovering at home after leaving hospital. Bayern says Aaron Danks and the existing staff will continue leading the team.

Bayern Munich has not set a return date for Vincent Kompany as the head coach continues his recovery at home following his discharge from hospital. Aaron Danks and the coaching staff remain in charge during his absence.
Sporting director Max Eberl confirmed before Wednesday’s German Cup match against Magdeburg that Kompany had been allowed to leave hospital. The Bundesliga’s account said medical examinations had identified meningeal irritation after the coach collapsed during a Bayern reserve-team training session Friday.
The update confirmed Kompany could continue recuperating at home. It did not establish that he was ready to resume training-ground duties or return to the touchline, and Bayern’s priority remains his recovery.
Eberl had explained that approach in the club’s October 24 press briefing. He said Bayern would give Kompany time, would avoid imposing a recovery deadline and expected the absence to be measured in weeks rather than days.
The sporting director also expressed confidence in the staff already working alongside Kompany. Bayern did not announce a replacement appointment or a change to the coaching structure. Danks has taken the matchday role while the head coach is away.
Bayern’s players expressed relief after the Magdeburg victory that Kompany was home. Nathaniel Brown and Tom Bischof were among those commenting after the team reached the German Cup’s last 16.
Bayern’s next Champions League assignment is Tuesday’s visit to Atlético Madrid. The club’s published schedule places the match at the Metropolitano, followed by an away European fixture against Lille later in November.
Danks said Friday that Bayern’s management had instructed the staff to avoid work discussions with Kompany while he recovers. The assistant coach said they wanted him fully healthy before returning and were leaving him in peace. He said the staff missed Kompany and would continue accepting responsibility until he was ready.
