Astros Exercise Isaac Paredes’ $13.35 Million Option for 2027
Houston exercised the option November 2; a top-10 finish in AL MVP voting would make it mutual under the contract’s remaining condition.

The Houston Astros exercised third baseman Isaac Paredes’ $13.35 million club option for 2027 on Monday, November 2, MLB.com reported.
The option carries a remaining condition: it becomes mutual if Paredes finishes in the top 10 of American League Most Valuable Player voting. The report says those voting results will be announced next week, so the club’s decision should not be confused with a settled outcome on that provision.
Paredes hit .262 with 25 home runs, 94 RBIs and an .807 OPS in 155 games during the 2026 season. He finished second on the Astros in Baseball-Reference wins above replacement, behind AL MVP finalist Yordan Alvarez.
The decision keeps Paredes central to Houston’s offseason infield planning. The Astros explored trading him last winter before Carlos Correa’s May ankle injury ended Correa’s season. MLB.com reported that Correa is expected to return healthy in 2027, bringing that roster question back into view.
Houston also lost center fielder Jake Meyers to free agency Monday after outrighting him from the 40-man roster. Meyers hit .213 with three home runs in 57 major league games in 2026, a season interrupted by oblique and knee injuries.
