Valtteri Bottas says he expects to remain with Cadillac next season, although the Formula 1 team has not confirmed the contract option that would secure his 2027 seat.

Speaking ahead of the Sao Paulo Grand Prix on Thursday, Bottas said Cadillac had given him no indication it wanted a change. Formula 1 reported his comments amid speculation about reserve driver Colton Herta.

“The team has told me they don’t want to change anything,” Bottas said.

Cadillac has already confirmed Sergio Perez for next season. Bottas initially joined on a multiyear agreement, but his continuation depends on the team exercising an option.

Herta has been completing practice appearances as he pursues the Super Licence points needed to qualify for a Formula 1 race seat. Bottas said he understood why Cadillac wanted its reserve eligible, while maintaining that his own position had not changed.
