Cancún Opens First Open Water World Cup Season Spanning Two Years
The five-stop circuit runs from November 2026 to May 2027 before the world championships in Budapest.

World Aquatics’ first Open Water Swimming World Cup season to span two calendar years opens with a November 6-7 meet in Cancún, Mexico.
The five-stop 2026-27 circuit replaces the traditional single-year calendar. World Aquatics said the change follows feedback from the open-water community and is intended to align competition with major championships and athletes’ preparation.
Mexico returns to the World Cup calendar for the first time since 2015. After Cancún, the series resumes in Somabay, Egypt, on March 19-20, 2027.
A third stop is scheduled for April 23-24 at a venue still to be announced. Golfo Aranci, Italy, follows April 30-May 1, and Setúbal, Portugal, hosts the finale May 28-29.
The season ends about five weeks before open-water competition at the Budapest world championships, scheduled for July 3-8. World Aquatics lists worldwide live and on-demand streaming of the World Cup through Eurovision Sport.
