Harry Kane Nears Bayern Contract Extension As Dreesen Says Details Remain
Bayern’s chief executive says the major terms are settled, with lawyers working on the remaining details of Harry Kane’s extension.
Harry Kane is nearing a new Bayern Munich contract, with chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen saying the remaining work concerns legal details rather than the principal terms of an agreement. The club has not announced a completed extension.
Dreesen told BILD on Wednesday that Bayern and Kane had discussed the important issues before Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony. The Bundesliga’s October 29 report said lawyers were reviewing the finer points and that Dreesen expected the process to take a few more days.
Club president Herbert Hainer had also supported an extension in September, pointing to Kane’s happiness in Munich, his family’s comfort and the opportunities to win trophies. He said Bayern wanted the relationship to continue.
Kane’s existing deal runs through summer 2027. He joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 on a four-year contract, making the current negotiations a decision about extending his stay beyond that commitment.
Kane’s comments in the September report also stressed that extensions take time. He described positive initial discussions while explaining that further meetings would be needed to work through the details involved.
The league’s September account of negotiations also set out the sporting context. Kane had reached 100 Bundesliga goals in 98 appearances, becoming the fastest player to that milestone. Those were September figures, rather than an updated total following this weekend’s games.
The September report listed his 2024 and 2026 European Golden Shoe awards and Germany’s 2026 footballer-of-the-year honor. Bayern had won the preceding two league championships and, in May, its first German Cup with him leading the attack.
Kane then won the 2026 Ballon d’Or in London on Monday, ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal. For supporters following his future, the next definitive development is Bayern’s announcement of a signed extension, including its duration and any terms the club chooses to disclose.
