New England Patriots running back TreVeyon Henderson said Friday that he spent several days in the hospital after a medical emergency involving unexplained neurological symptoms.

In a statement reported by NFL.com, Henderson said testing had produced reassuring results but had not established the cause. He said the symptoms had affected his strength, coordination and some physical functions, and that he was working with specialists and physical therapists on his recovery.

“My health and long-term well-being remain my foremost priorities,” Henderson said.

Henderson has not practiced since Oct. 28. New England added him to its injury report with an illness Oct. 29, and he missed Sunday’s victory at Miami.

The second-year running back has 248 yards from scrimmage and one touchdown on 57 touches in six games this season. His last appearance came Oct. 22 against Chicago, when he had five touches for 23 yards.

The Patriots used Rhamondre Stevenson, Corey Kiner and Lan Larison against Miami. New England hosts Green Bay on Sunday at 4:25 p.m. EST.
