Terence Crawford Teases Comeback and Calls Out Ryan Garcia at 160 Pounds

Crawford floated a return and named Garcia at middleweight, renewing a discussion that remains short of a signed fight.

Terence Crawford has reopened discussion of a boxing comeback by naming Ryan Garcia as a possible opponent at 160 pounds, in social media posts reported on November 4.

The retired former champion floated another fight before directing a challenge toward Garcia. BoxingScene reported the exchange, while Boxing News reproduced Crawford’s posts and identified middleweight as his suggested limit.

The comments establish renewed public interest from Crawford, but do not announce a signed contest. Neither report supplies an agreed date, venue or contract, and the challenge should not be read as confirmation that his retirement has ended.

Crawford also referred to Garcia’s discussions about facing Floyd Mayweather. That remark placed his proposed matchup alongside another heavily discussed possibility, rather than establishing which opponent Garcia will actually face next.

The latest exchange represents a change from September, when Crawford questioned reporting that he could meet Garcia as a replacement for Tyson Fury against Anthony Joshua. His response at that time offered no confirmation that he had agreed to fight.

Crawford retired in December 2025 with a record of 42 wins, no defeats and 31 knockouts. His final appearance was a decision victory over Canelo Alvarez that made him undisputed super middleweight champion.

That achievement completed championship success across five divisions and undisputed reigns in three weight classes. A proposed meeting at middleweight would place a possible return below the division in which he beat Alvarez.

Garcia, meanwhile, holds the WBC welterweight title after beating Mario Barrios earlier this year. Boxing News reported that he subsequently stopped Conor Benn in his first defense.

The difference between Garcia’s current division and Crawford’s suggested weight remains central to any negotiations. For now, the verified development is a public challenge, with the practical terms and any eventual agreement still unresolved.

No official fight announcement has followed. Any eventual return would require agreement on the weight as well as the opponent.
