Talia Gibson defeated Daria Kasatkina 6–0, 7–5 in an all-Australian first-round match at the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo on Monday, October 26. The match lasted one hour and 36 minutes.

Gibson won the first eight games, according to the WTA’s official match description. Kasatkina made the second set more competitive, taking five games before Gibson closed out the victory without a deciding set.

Gibson advances to face eighth seed Alexandra Eala, who beat British wild card Mika Stojsavljevic 6–1, 6–2 in 75 minutes. The WTA’s Monday report confirmed their second-round pairing.

Gibson entered the Tokyo main draw directly, while Kasatkina came through qualifying, Tennis Australia reported. The federation also noted that Gibson had reached the Osaka quarterfinals last week after two straight-sets victories. Katerina Siniakova won the Osaka title on Sunday.

Tokyo is a WTA 500 hard-court event scheduled through November 1. Monday’s result leaves Gibson in the last 16 and ends Kasatkina’s singles run.
