Should You Add Devin Singletary? Make the Week 8 Claim a Bench Stash

The Giants have a bye after Sunday’s win. Singletary’s waiver value depends on the health of Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy Jr., plus your spare bench space.

Devin Singletary is worth a speculative Week 8 waiver claim if your fantasy roster has a spare bench spot. He cannot fill a Week 8 lineup hole: the Giants have a bye. Treat the claim as insurance for their next game, rather than paying for Sunday’s winning touchdown.

This recommendation assumes a 12-team redraft league with half-PPR or full-PPR scoring, two starting running backs, a flex and at least five bench spots. If your next matchup requires an immediate running back replacement, address that need before adding Singletary. In shallower leagues with short benches, leaving him available is reasonable until New York clarifies its injuries.

What changed against Houston

Singletary finished the Giants’ October 25 victory with five carries for 41 yards and a touchdown, plus three catches for 14 yards, according to his official game log. His 30-yard overtime touchdown supplied most of his rushing yardage. That is a useful result, but eight touches do not establish a starting workload.

The Giants’ game report records Tyrone Tracy Jr.’s hamstring injury. NFL.com reported that Cam Skattebo felt something in his hamstring on his final overtime run. Skattebo still led the team with 17 carries and 124 rushing yards.

The opportunity case for Singletary depends on those health concerns limiting the other backs. His touchdown alone is not a reason to assume he has passed Skattebo. If both other backs are available for the next game, the case for reserving a bench spot becomes weaker.

How to handle the claim

Put Singletary behind an available back with a verified role who can actually help your Week 8 lineup. Use a low-priority claim or a small discretionary bid if you can afford the idle roster spot. Avoid committing your top waiver priority or a large share of your remaining budget before a diagnosis changes the evidence.

For a manager already holding Skattebo or Tracy, Singletary can be a practical insurance addition if the bench allows it. Do not drop a healthy starter or a needed Week 8 replacement to make that move. Check the player pool in your own league; no roster-availability percentage is assumed here.

The Giants’ schedule lists their next game at Philadelphia on Sunday, November 8, at 1 p.m. EST. The next useful check is the team’s medical update before your league’s waiver deadline, followed by its Week 9 practice and game-status reports after the bye. Sunday lineup decisions are closed.
