Report: Eagles Won’t Trade Saquon Barkley Before November 10 Deadline

NFL Network reports Philadelphia plans to keep Barkley as Howie Roseman weighs other moves. The running back is cleared for Sunday night in Washington.

The Philadelphia Eagles will not trade Saquon Barkley before the November 10 deadline, NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport reported Sunday, November 1. The report takes a prominent running back out of the trade discussion as Philadelphia considers changes during a disappointing season.

Barkley, 29, remains under contract through 2028. Garafolo and Rapoport reported that Philadelphia has told interested teams it is keeping him because the organization believes its roster can compete in 2027 and beyond. The Eagles entered Sunday night’s game at Washington with a 2–5 record.

That position does not rule out other Eagles business. The same report said general manager Howie Roseman has explored trades involving other players and could still add someone who fits Philadelphia’s longer plans. Center Cam Jurgens has already been traded to Baltimore this season. Barkley has rushed for 244 yards on 43 carries.

Barkley’s immediate assignment is returning to the field. The Eagles’ final injury report cleared him for Washington after he missed Wednesday and Thursday practices with hamstring and back injuries, then participated on a limited basis Friday. He had missed two games before returning against Dallas, where discomfort again limited his involvement.

“I like playing football. So, if I have the opportunity to play, I try my best to play,” Barkley said Friday, according to the team’s account of his remarks.

Philadelphia will be without receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, who were ruled out with hamstring and ankle injuries, respectively. Britain Covey is also out with a knee injury. Those absences leave the offense short of familiar options as Barkley returns.

Sunday’s kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. EST. The trade report concerns Barkley’s future in Philadelphia; his game availability comes from the team’s injury report. Neither establishes how many snaps or touches he will receive against Washington.
