Jared Goff found Jameson Williams for the winning touchdown with 4:35 remaining as the Detroit Lions beat the Minnesota Vikings 19–15 Sunday at Ford Field. Minnesota’s first loss ended its six-game winning streak to open the season, while Detroit improved to 5–2.

The Vikings had taken a 15–12 fourth-quarter lead on Kyler Murray’s touchdown pass to T.J. Hockenson and a two-point conversion to Jordan Addison. Detroit answered with a touchdown drive, then forced Minnesota to punt after three plays and kept possession through the finish.

Goff completed 18 of 25 passes for 176 yards, one touchdown and his first interception of the season. Williams finished with four catches for 70 yards. Jahmyr Gibbs carried the offense on the ground, rushing for 153 yards and a touchdown on 23 attempts.

Murray threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns with one interception, completing 17 of 29 attempts. His one-yard scoring pass to Justin Jefferson helped Minnesota lead 7–6 at halftime. Addison’s 51-yard reception later helped create the Vikings’ brief fourth-quarter advantage, Yahoo Sports reported.

Gibbs’ 30-yard touchdown run had put Detroit ahead 12–7 in the third quarter. On the decisive possession, Gibbs and Sione Vaki combined for six runs totaling 62 yards. Goff then connected with Williams from seven yards out, according to the Lions’ game report.

Detroit finished with 230 rushing yards, including 65 from Vaki. Detroit held Minnesota to 266 total yards and three conversions in 10 third-down attempts. D.J. Reed supplied an interception, and Detroit recorded three sacks against Murray while limiting Minnesota to 15 points.

The result tightened the NFC North race, with Minnesota now 6–1 and Detroit winning its first two divisional games. Detroit travels to Miami on November 8. The Lions completed Sunday’s victory with their defense making a stop before the offense exhausted the clock.
