Miami’s Malachi Toney Needs Ankle Surgery, AP Reports
Miami’s leading receiver is expected to miss multiple weeks after a practice injury ahead of Saturday’s Notre Dame game.

Miami receiver Malachi Toney is scheduled for surgery on a high ankle sprain and is expected to miss multiple weeks, The Associated Press reported, citing a person familiar with the injury.
Toney was hurt during Wednesday’s practice. Miami confirmed the injury and said its medical staff was evaluating him. AP reported that a recovery timetable would be determined after surgery.
The injury leaves the Hurricanes without their leading receiver for Saturday’s game at Notre Dame. Toney has 73 receptions for 1,027 yards and 13 touchdowns this season.
Miami is 8-0 and ranked first in the initial College Football Playoff rankings. Notre Dame is 7-1 and No. 11 in the CFP rankings.
