Gregor Kobel’s Five Bundesliga Shutouts Face a Test Against Elversberg

Dortmund’s goalkeeper leads the league in clean sheets. Elversberg has scored 16 times in eight games since promotion.

Gregor Kobel leads the Bundesliga with five clean sheets through eight matches. The Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper faces promoted Elversberg on Saturday, a team that has already scored 16 league goals.

Kobel recorded three of his shutouts at home and two away. Dortmund enters Saturday unbeaten after drawing 2–2 at Bayern Munich last weekend.

Elversberg’s 16 goals are the best start by a promoted Bundesliga club since Hoffenheim scored 21 in its first eight in 2008, according to Dortmund. Elversberg scored four against Mainz last weekend. Saturday’s match at Signal Iduna Park starts at 9:30 a.m. ET.
