Fury Urges Wilder to Stop Fighting Ahead of Opetaia Bout
The former heavyweight champion questions his old rival’s decision to continue before their shared Dec. 11 card in Cardiff.

Tyson Fury has urged former rival Deontay Wilder to stop fighting ahead of Wilder’s scheduled heavyweight bout with Jai Opetaia on Dec. 11 in Cardiff, Wales.
Fury questioned Wilder’s recent performances in comments to FightHype reported Friday by BoxingScene. He said Wilder should have retired after their third fight in 2021, when Fury won by an 11th-round knockout.
The pair drew their first meeting in 2018 before Fury won the next two. Wilder returned to winning form in April with a points victory over Derek Chisora.
Wilder’s bout with Opetaia is on the undercard of Fury’s long-awaited meeting with Anthony Joshua. Opetaia is moving up from cruiserweight to face the former WBC heavyweight champion.
