Elias Lindholm scored 2:32 into overtime as the Boston Bruins erased a late two-goal deficit to beat the Chicago Blackhawks 5–4 on Saturday at TD Garden. Morgan Geekie forced overtime with 12 seconds remaining in regulation, after Mason Lohrei had brought Boston back within a goal.

Chicago led 4–2 after third-period goals from Ryan Greene and Connor Bedard, but Boston recovered with its goalie pulled for an extra skater on Geekie’s equalizer. The victory ended the Bruins’ two-game losing streak and improved their record to 10–4–1. Chicago fell to 4–9–1 and remained winless on the road at 0–5–1.

David Pastrnak scored his 428th career goal on a first-period breakaway, moving past Patrice Bergeron into third place on Boston’s all-time list. Casey Mittelstadt also scored for the Bruins. Anton Frondell had both of Chicago’s first two goals, the second multigoal game of his NHL career. Chicago entered four for 40 on the power play this season, then Frondell scored just 11 seconds after a Boston delay-of-game penalty.

The Blackhawks generated 41 shots, surpassing their previous season high of 28, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. Bedard called it their best performance of the season, praising the team’s willingness to compete through contact. Chicago continued creating chances after taking its third-period lead rather than simply protecting the advantage.

Defensive mistakes nevertheless proved expensive. The Sun-Times reported that a failed Wyatt Kaiser breakout pass preceded Boston’s second goal, while Lindholm found space behind Oliver Moore after a center-ice faceoff in overtime. Coach Jeff Blashill said Moore understood he needed to stay above the Boston center on that play.

Michael DiPietro helped keep the Bruins close while they were outshot 28–13 through two periods. Boston has won five straight home games. The Bruins host Vegas on Monday, while the Blackhawks return home to face Colorado.
