The Miami Dolphins elevated kicker Zane Gonzalez from their practice squad Saturday for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots. The move makes Gonzalez available for another game with Miami after his appearance in the previous week’s victory over the New York Jets.

Gonzalez made all four extra-point attempts in that 28–25 win and did not attempt a field goal, according to the Dolphins’ official player statistics. That was his first regular-season appearance for Miami, and his season field-goal total remained at zero heading into the Patriots matchup.

This is Gonzalez’s second elevation of the season. Dolphins Wire reported that he has one standard elevation remaining, while Saturday’s other elevated player, edge rusher Max Llewellyn, has reached his third. The transactions were practice-squad elevations rather than announcements that either player had signed to the 53-man roster.

Gonzalez, 31, has appeared in 79 career NFL games for Cleveland, Arizona, Carolina, Washington, Atlanta and Miami. The Dolphins listed his career field-goal record at 115 successful attempts from 142 tries, an 81% conversion rate, including 59 makes in 82 attempts from at least 40 yards.

His most recent full season came with Atlanta in 2025, when he made 19 of 22 field goals and 17 of 18 extra points across nine games. His longest successful field goal that season was 56 yards. In 2021 with Carolina, he converted 20 of 22 field goals.

Cleveland selected Gonzalez in the seventh round of the 2017 draft, 224th overall, after his college career at Arizona State. He made 96 of 116 field-goal attempts for the Sun Devils. Saturday’s elevation confirms his roster availability for the Patriots game without establishing how many kicking opportunities Miami will generate.

Miami and New England are meeting for the first time this season, with Sunday’s game set for Hard Rock Stadium.
