Como matched the Champions League’s largest winning margin with a remarkable 9–1 victory at Lens on Wednesday, November 4, as Cesc Fabregas’ side continued its striking first campaign in the competition.

Anastasios Douvikas scored a hat trick in a result that lifted the Italian club to nine points from four matches. Reuters reported that the eight goal margin equalled the competition benchmark previously reached by Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Como led by three goals at halftime before accelerating through the second period. Nico Paz scored before the break, while Douvikas had already struck twice to put the visitors firmly in control.

According to beIN Sports’ match account, Lucas Da Cunha and Marc Oliver Kempf added goals after the interval before Douvikas completed his treble. Mattia Liberali, Martin Baturina and Matteo Papaccioli also scored, with Ruben Aguilar supplying Lens’ consolation.

The margin matters more than the raw total when comparing the result with previous Champions League records. Como won by eight goals, placing the performance alongside the tournament’s most decisive victories.

The result also extended a productive European run. UEFA’s results list records earlier victories over Leipzig and Manchester United, both by four goals to one, alongside a defeat at Feyenoord.

That sequence gives Fabregas’ team three victories in its opening four league phase fixtures. It also provides context for an extraordinary scoreline: Como had already shown it could create and convert chances against established opponents.

UEFA lists AEK Athens as Como’s next opponent on November 24. The Italian side then visits Real Betis in December before completing its remaining league phase matches against Paris Saint-Germain and Barcelona in January.

The visit to Lens therefore produced both a record result and an improvement to Como’s league phase position, with four remaining league phase fixtures still available to determine its eventual path toward qualification.
