Chig Okonkwo Merits a Week 8 Look After McLaurin Injury

Washington’s tight end offers a possible receiving alternative, with the next target distribution still to be established.

Chig Okonkwo is a tight-end waiver consideration as Washington returns from its bye with Terry McLaurin out for the season.

Okonkwo caught all seven of his targets in his latest appearance and reached at least 60 receiving yards in each of his last two games, according to FantasyPros’ Week 8 waiver review. Washington’s bye means that the most recent game evidence is from Week 6.

TSP fantasy advice: Consider Okonkwo if your starter is unavailable or your current tight end has little involvement in his offense. His recent receiving work provides a reason to look beyond a touchdown-only option.

McLaurin’s absence does not guarantee that every vacated target moves to the tight end. Washington can distribute those opportunities among several players, so treat any projected increase as conditional.

Managers with a strong established starter do not need to force a replacement. In deeper leagues, Okonkwo can be a useful bench addition while the next game reveals how the revised passing game divides its work.
