Reports citing court records say Berlanga faces misdemeanor battery and felony aggravated battery charges, with arraignment scheduled for November 17.

Boxer Edgar Berlanga was arrested in Polk County, Florida, on October 26 and faces two battery-related charges, according to reports citing court records. The allegations concern an incident reported to have occurred October 18; the arrest is not a conviction or a determination of guilt.

Uncrowned’s report said the Lakeland Police Department took Berlanga into custody and that the counts are first-degree misdemeanor battery and second-degree felony aggravated battery. The outlet said it obtained the relevant court records.

Berlanga appeared at the Bartow Courthouse Tuesday, where a judge set combined bail at $16,000, according to that reporting. His arraignment is scheduled for November 17 at 8:45 a.m., when the charges and plea are expected to be addressed in court.

ESPN also reported the arrest and felony charge. The public accounts reviewed for this story did not establish a completed trial, accepted guilty plea or final judgment, so none should be inferred from the charging information.

The reporting has not supplied a complete account of the alleged incident. BoxingInsider’s Wednesday report said Berlanga had not publicly addressed the arrest and that Zuffa Boxing had not commented at the time of publication. Any later response or change in the case would require a separate update.

The 29-year-old super middleweight has a professional record of 24–2 with 19 knockouts. He most recently fought Steven Butler in July at Madison Square Garden’s Infosys Theater, recovering from an early knockdown to win by a seventh-round stoppage.

Berlanga joined Zuffa Boxing earlier this year after leaving Matchroom. BoxingInsider’s account noted discussion of a possible return early next year, but no formally announced next fight was established in the report.

The legal process and any future boxing schedule remain separate questions. The available information establishes an arrest, reported charges, bail and a scheduled arraignment. It does not establish how the case will be resolved or whether a particular future contest will proceed.

Berlanga is presumed innocent unless proven guilty. The next scheduled court date is the relevant checkpoint for further verified developments.
