Afghanistan Reaches Record No. 6 in ICC ODI Rankings
The team moved above Sri Lanka after an unbeaten tri-series and a series win in Ireland.

Afghanistan reached sixth place in the ICC men’s one-day international team rankings, its highest position, the governing body announced Nov. 2.
The move took Afghanistan above Sri Lanka. It was already ahead of Bangladesh, England and the West Indies in the rankings.
The ICC cited a 4-0 away series victory over Ireland and an unbeaten tri-series against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh among Afghanistan’s recent results. The team had won 96 of its first 191 ODIs, according to the announcement.
Afghanistan also swept a T20 international series against Zimbabwe before a scheduled two-Test series between the teams. The rankings milestone applies to the ODI format.
