Monza forward Gustavo Varela has been named Serie A’s Rising Star of the Month for October.
The league lists Varela as the October winner. The 21-year-old scored five goals and supplied one assist in four league matches during the month, according to Football Italia’s report of the award.
Varela has scored nine goals in nine Serie A appearances this season, along with two goals in his only Coppa Italia appearance. Monza signed him from Benfica’s B team during the summer.
