Joelinton Ruled Out at Fulham as Newcastle Also Lose Ramsey to Suspension
Matias Fernandez-Pardo has resumed training after illness, but Newcastle still need to assess his condition.
Joelinton will miss Newcastle United’s trip to Fulham because of injury, head coach Matthias Jaissle said Thursday, leaving the club without another midfielder alongside suspended Jacob Ramsey.
Jaissle said in Newcastle’s team-news update that the medical staff still needed to finalize Joelinton’s treatment plan and determine how long he would be unavailable. He did not announce a return date.
Ramsey will serve a one-match suspension after his red card in Monday’s 1-0 loss to Everton.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo has returned to training after a virus kept him out for more than two weeks. Newcastle will assess his physical condition before deciding whether he can play. Lewis Miley was also making progress in his recovery, Jaissle said.
Newcastle visit Craven Cottage on Saturday, seeking a response to the Everton defeat.
