Miami Leads First College Football Playoff Rankings Ahead of Georgia, Utah and Indiana
Unbeaten Miami earned its first No. 1 CFP committee ranking. Georgia, Utah and Indiana followed in the opening November 3 release.

Miami topped the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2026 season on Tuesday, November 3, ahead of Georgia, Utah and Indiana. The committee evaluated games played through October 31.
The Hurricanes, 8–0, earned the program’s first No. 1 ranking from the CFP selection committee, the organization announced. Georgia was second at 7–1, followed by unbeaten Utah at 8–0 and Indiana at 8–1.
Alabama, Kentucky, Texas and UCLA occupied spots five through eight. BYU and Ole Miss completed the top 10, with Notre Dame 11th and Ohio State 12th. Utah’s third-place ranking and Kentucky’s sixth-place ranking were program highs in the CFP system.
This is the opening ranking release, rather than the selection of the final playoff field. The committee’s next rankings are scheduled for Tuesday, November 10, at approximately 9 p.m. EST on ESPN and the ESPN app. The committee said it evaluates complete team profiles using video, data and conference input, with schedule strength, head-to-head results, common opponents and relevant availability factors informing comparisons.
