Detroit Lions linebacker Jack Campbell was taken to a hospital for evaluation of a neck injury suffered during Sunday’s 19–15 victory over the Minnesota Vikings at Ford Field. Coach Dan Campbell said afterward that he had no additional information about the linebacker’s condition.

“We’re thinking about him,” the coach said, according to The Associated Press. The postgame statement did not establish a diagnosis, prognosis or return timetable. Detroit’s next game is November 8 at Miami, but Campbell’s availability for that matchup remained unconfirmed.

Campbell was injured early in the fourth quarter while tackling Minnesota tight end T.J. Hockenson. Medical personnel attended to him on the field before placing him on a backboard and taking him away on a cart. Detroit players and coaches gathered around him before he left.

Yahoo Sports reported that linebacker Jimmy Rolder also went down on the same play. Rolder was able to get up, while Campbell continued receiving treatment. The Lions’ official game report separately listed Rolder with a hamstring injury and said he did not return.

The injury involved one of the defenders Detroit committed to keeping for the long term this spring. The Lions signed Campbell to a four-year extension through the 2030 season. Their May report described his previous All-Pro season, including 176 tackles and five sacks.

Detroit selected the former Iowa linebacker with the 18th overall pick in the 2023 draft. In discussing his extension in May, Campbell emphasized remaining with the Lions and the organization’s belief in him. That offseason agreement secured a central member of the defense.

Sunday’s win moved Detroit to 5–2 and ended Minnesota’s undefeated start. The Lions’ game report also identified injuries to center Cade Mays, returner Jacob Saylors and cornerback D.J. Reed. Campbell’s hospital evaluation remained the unresolved development after Detroit completed the divisional victory.
