New York City’s published restrictions for the November 1 marathon include major bridge closures and street restrictions across all five boroughs. The city’s 2026 closure notice lists expected windows, but the NYPD can change those times and reopen roads on a rolling basis. All times below are EST.

Bridge and finish-area restrictions

Both levels of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge are listed as closed until 4 p.m. The Queensboro Bridge’s lower level is listed closed in both directions until 5:30 p.m.; its upper-level restriction applies to trucks. The Pulaski, Willis Avenue and Madison Avenue bridges have published closure windows ending at 6:30 p.m.

Near the finish, Central Park West from Columbus Circle to 81st Street is listed closed until 10:30 p.m. The 65th and 79th Street traverses have expected reopening times of 9:30 p.m. These are planning windows, not confirmation that a particular road is open at the moment a traveler reaches it.

Check the official travel resources

The city’s marathon community-notice page brings together street restrictions, transit information, weather and Citi Bike notices. It identifies the Belt Parkway and FDR Drive among the areas affected by the event, alongside the bridges used by the course. Follow its transit link for current bus reroutes and subway information rather than assuming a normal Sunday trip.

NYC DOT’s weekly traffic advisory covers October 31 through November 6. It also contains unrelated construction restrictions. Check the location and dates of each entry: a weekday construction closure or Saturday’s separate 5K notice is not automatically a marathon restriction for Sunday.

The community notice also links to Citi Bike station information and warns that public restrooms are not available for marathon spectators. Its 311 and Notify NYC links provide further event information and alerts. Before leaving, use the linked current transport or traffic page for the entire trip, including the walk from a station to the viewing area. DOT cautions that its weekly list does not include emergency closures or every long-term construction project.
