Carlos Alcaraz Wins Vienna Open Without Dropping a Set, Beats De Minaur 6–1, 6–4
Alcaraz won Sunday’s Vienna final for his fourth title of 2026, finishing the ATP 500 season unbeaten.

Carlos Alcaraz won the Erste Bank Open in Vienna on Sunday, beating Alex de Minaur 6–1, 6–4 to finish the tournament without dropping a set. The second-seeded Spaniard claimed his first Vienna singles title and his fourth tournament victory of the 2026 season. The event was played on indoor hard courts at the Wiener Stadthalle.
Alcaraz broke in de Minaur’s opening service game and prevented an immediate response when the Australian had a chance to break back. He added two more breaks to take the first set, according to the tournament’s official final report. The fifth seed offered stronger resistance in the second, with both players holding through the middle of the set before Alcaraz broke decisively at 5–4.
The closing point combined several of Alcaraz’s signature shots. A backhand drop shot brought de Minaur forward, a lob forced another difficult reply, and a cross-court forehand finished the contest. The Associated Press reported that the result gave Alcaraz a seventh victory in seven meetings with de Minaur, across grass, clay and indoor and outdoor hard courts.
The Spaniard’s championship total reached 28 tour-level titles. His 2026 collection includes the Australian Open, which completed his career Grand Slam. De Minaur had been seeking his second title of the year but could not reproduce the semifinal victory that put him in position to challenge for the trophy.
Alcaraz beat Daniil Medvedev in his semifinal. De Minaur advanced by overcoming Alexander Zverev, who is due to become world No. 1 on Monday. The Vienna champion also completed a 16–0 season at ATP 500 tournaments, the organizer reported.
Alcaraz welcomed his place on Vienna’s list of champions but did not confirm a title defense in 2027. The final left de Minaur with a runner-up finish after his first appearance in the tournament’s championship match.
