Jonathan Taylor Active Against Jaguars Amid Trade Talks

Jonathan Taylor is active for the Indianapolis Colts against the Jacksonville Jaguars on November 1, making him available to play while reports describe ongoing discussions about a trade before the November 10 deadline.

Taylor was not among the seven players on Indianapolis’ official inactive list, released Sunday. The game was scheduled for 1 p.m. EST at EverBank Stadium. His availability resolves the question of whether the Colts would hold him out while considering offers.

ESPN’s Stephen Holder reported Saturday that Taylor was expected to play and that no deal was imminent. That account concerned Indianapolis’ plans entering game day. The inactive announcement establishes his availability without determining whether the Colts will complete a trade later.

Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter reported Saturday that multiple teams had contacted Indianapolis about Taylor. The Colts have traded guard Quenton Nelson to Seattle and defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to San Francisco this week. Those departures preceded the reported change in Indianapolis’ willingness to discuss another deal.

Taylor said Thursday that he had not requested a trade. Asked about being part of a rebuild, he challenged that description and emphasized trying to win. He also acknowledged the departures of Nelson and Buckner, while distinguishing the decisions outside his control from preparing for Jacksonville.

“I’m always proud to wear the Horseshoe, proud to be here,” Taylor said in comments published by the Colts. He signed an extension in August, leaving him under contract beyond this season rather than approaching free agency alongside the two departed veterans.

Taylor entered Week 8 with eight rushing touchdowns, 765 yards from scrimmage and 157 touches, according to the team. Indianapolis also has Sauce Gardner and Tyler Warren available after recent injury absences. No completed Taylor trade was announced with Sunday’s game-day roster. The trading deadline falls at 4 p.m. EST.
