Bayern Await Injury Diagnoses on Olise, Saibari and Gnabry Before Atlético Trip

Bayern are awaiting medical clarity on three attackers before Tuesday’s Champions League trip. Initial assessments raised greater concern over Saibari and Gnabry, without confirming a diagnosis.

Bayern Munich are awaiting clearer injury assessments on Michael Olise, Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry before Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Atlético Madrid, after all three left Saturday’s game against Borussia Dortmund.

Sporting director Max Eberl said the problems affecting Saibari and Gnabry looked more significant, while stressing that he could not provide a diagnosis. His initial assessment of Olise was more encouraging, according to SID.

“I can’t yet say exactly how serious their injuries are,” chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen said in comments published by the Bundesliga.

Saibari was hurt in a challenge with Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel and left the stadium on crutches. Bayern replaced him with Nathaniel Brown before halftime, then introduced Josip Stanišić when Gnabry could not continue.

Olise was substituted late in the match, with Lennart Karl taking his place. Interim coach Aaron Danks told Sky that Saibari’s problem involved his ankle and described Gnabry’s injury as muscular, while remaining uncertain about Olise’s condition.

Jamal Musiala and Luis Díaz were already unavailable, narrowing Bayern’s attacking options before the latest setbacks. Manuel Neuer also missed the Dortmund game. Danks has been deputizing for Vincent Kompany while the head coach recovers from illness.

Bayern drew 2–2 at the Allianz Arena, with Fábio Silva scoring Dortmund’s equalizer in the 89th minute. The result left the clubs level on points at the top of the Bundesliga.

Dreesen also played down the possibility of seeking immediate reinforcements. Asked about the transfer market, he said Bayern needed to establish what was wrong with Olise and that discussion of recruitment should not be premature.

The immediate question is which of the three injured attackers can recover for the trip to Madrid on November 3. Saturday’s assessments did not establish a return date or confirm their availability for that fixture.
