Zion Suzuki Own Goal Gives Fulham a 1–1 Draw at Aston Villa
Fulham earned a point at Villa Park after Zion Suzuki’s second-half own goal canceled Nicolas Jackson’s opener.

Zion Suzuki’s 64th-minute own goal gave Fulham a 1–1 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday after Nicolas Jackson had put the hosts ahead before halftime at Villa Park.
Suzuki had made several important saves but spilled Alex Iwobi’s corner over his own goal line while trying to claim the delivery. The error canceled Jackson’s 39th-minute opener and ensured both teams left Villa Park with one point.
Villa had an earlier opportunity to lead when Sander Berge handled Leon Goretzka’s header and a video review brought a penalty. Captain John McGinn struck the crossbar from the spot, according to Nicholas McGee’s match report for 101 Great Goals.
Jackson eventually broke through after Villa counterattacked, working past two challenges before finishing into the bottom-right corner. Suzuki protected the lead before the break, denying Oscar Bobb and then stopping Josh King after the midfielder was played through.
Fulham continued to create chances in the second half. Gonzalo Garcia diverted Shea Charles’ effort over the bar, and Suzuki kept out Iwobi’s close-range header before the goalkeeper’s own goal restored parity.
Sky Sports’ final statistics credited Fulham with 55 percent possession and five shots on target to Villa’s three. Villa had 16 attempts overall against Fulham’s 14, and each side won seven corners.
Fulham completed 474 passes, compared with Villa’s 373, and both teams finished with 11 players. Sky recorded three yellow cards for the visitors and one for the hosts.
Pau Torres headed narrowly wide as Villa sought a late winner. The hosts had beaten Manchester City in their previous league outing but lost 3–0 at Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup during the week.
Fulham also exited the cup, losing 1–0 to Crystal Palace. Villa now turn to Tuesday’s Champions League visit to Barcelona, while Fulham leave Birmingham with a point from Saturday’s match.
