USA Sports Says WNBA Finals Game 6 Drew 1.5 Million Viewers Across TV and Streaming

USA Sports reported a live audience of 1.5 million for Thursday’s Atlanta–Golden State game, with a separate 1.7 million measure including encore broadcasts.

USA Sports said Saturday that Thursday’s WNBA Finals Game 6 averaged 1.5 million live viewers across television and streaming, despite moving from an evening start to a weekday afternoon.

The October 29 game between the Atlanta Dream and Golden State Valkyries aired on USA Network, E! and SYFY, with streaming led by Peacock. The estimate combines Nielsen panel-only television data with Adobe Analytics digital measurement.

USA Sports separately reported 1.7 million viewers when encore presentations on USA Network and CNBC were included. Those replays occupied the original 8 p.m. ET broadcast window; that measure includes additional presentations beyond the live game.

The company said the live audience was 4 percent higher than last season’s series-clinching Game 4 between Las Vegas and Phoenix. It also described Game 6 as the fifth most-watched WNBA Finals game on cable.

The rescheduled game began at 12:30 p.m. ET after being moved from 8 p.m. to accommodate an Atlanta Hawks scheduling conflict at State Farm Arena. Atlanta won 80–69, forcing the first Game 7 in WNBA history.

Front Office Sports reported that State Farm Arena seats about 17,000, compared with approximately 3,500 at the Dream’s regular home, Gateway Center. The move allowed the Finals game to remain at the larger venue.

Sports Media Watch said the panel-only estimate was pending final results, with official Nielsen Big Data + Panel figures unavailable until Monday at the earliest. Its report put Game 2 at 1.33 million and Game 5 at 1.43 million.

Those games were played in primetime opposite Monday Night Football. Game 5 also faced the World Series, according to Sports Media Watch, giving the afternoon audience figure a different competitive television context.

The announced figure covers the combined platforms. USA Sports did not provide a separate Peacock audience or a peak viewership number in Saturday’s release.
