The Packers expect Matthew Golden to play Thursday against Carolina despite a questionable designation related to shoulder and foot injuries, according to reporting from NFL on Prime Video’s James Palmer.

Ian Rapoport also described a positive outlook for Golden’s availability. The reports support optimism before kickoff, but the receiver’s presence on the active roster still requires confirmation through the official game-day process.

Practice progression and the inactive-list deadline

Golden was limited in Wednesday’s walkthrough after being listed as a non-participant earlier in the short week. That progression offers useful context without establishing that the injuries have fully resolved.

The game is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. ET. Inactives are expected approximately 90 minutes beforehand, giving fantasy managers a checkpoint at about 6:45 p.m. ET.

Golden has 36 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns through seven games, according to Packers Wire. Those season totals explain why his availability matters for lineups beyond the immediate injury designation.

He caught six of 12 targets for 39 yards in Detroit on Sunday. That was a target count with limited yardage, rather than an absence from the passing-game plan.

What fantasy managers should confirm

For fantasy managers, the recommendation is to wait for the inactive list before making an irreversible Thursday lineup decision. If Golden is available, assess him against the actual alternative on the roster rather than relying on the injury label alone.

An active designation does not guarantee a normal snap share or a particular target total. The expectation that he will play answers a narrower question than how productive he will be against Carolina.

Managers who prefer another receiver should make that choice before their platform locks Golden’s roster position. Thursday timing can leave fewer options if a decision is delayed until after kickoff.

Reporting is encouraging. Final availability and any announced restriction remain the details that should settle the immediate lineup call.
