A.J. Brown’s Knee Flare-Up Clouds Patriots–Dolphins Status

Brown missed Thursday’s practice with a knee issue while still managing his ankle, giving fantasy managers a fresh reason to keep an alternative ready.

A.J. Brown’s availability for New England’s Sunday game at Miami is uncertain after a knee issue flared up and kept him out of Thursday’s practice, according to Ian Rapoport’s reporting carried by RotoWire.

The latest development adds to the ankle problem Brown has managed since returning from injured reserve. He had been listed as limited Wednesday with both ankle and knee injuries.

How the knee report changes the injury picture

Earlier Thursday, NFL.com published Brown’s acknowledgment that his ankle was still affecting him. That account preceded the newer report about his knee and should not be read as a complete description of his current status.

Brown missed four games during the injured-reserve stint. He has six catches on 16 targets for 75 yards in his two appearances since returning, leaving fantasy managers with both health and production questions.

The Patriots’ Wednesday injury report listed the affected areas but did not settle his Sunday availability. A Thursday absence is a change in practice participation, rather than an automatic declaration that he will miss the game.

For fantasy managers, the new information supports keeping a viable replacement available through Friday’s report. Waiting for clarity is different from assuming that his established career production guarantees a normal role this weekend.

Friday’s report and replacement options

If Brown returns to practice, the participation level and any final game designation will matter. If he remains sidelined, the case for a backup lineup becomes stronger, even before the official inactive list.

Managers should also check the kickoff times of their alternatives. A replacement who has already locked cannot help if Brown’s status changes later in the weekend.

The matchup is Patriots at Dolphins, with Brown working in New England’s offense after his offseason move from Philadelphia.

The immediate concern is the newer knee development, alongside the continuing ankle issue. Friday’s update is the next meaningful checkpoint for Sunday planning.
