Misiorowski Gets Game 5 Start With Brewers One Win From Championship
Milwaukee turns to its ace Wednesday at Tropicana Field after Tampa Bay’s 12-inning escape cut the World Series deficit to 3–1.

Jacob Misiorowski will start World Series Game 5 for the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday, giving the club another opportunity to secure its first championship after Tampa Bay denied a sweep. The game is scheduled for 8 p.m. Eastern at Tropicana Field, with Milwaukee leading the series 3–1.
The assignment was confirmed in reporting on Milwaukee’s pitching decision after the Rays won Game 4 by a 4–3 score in 12 innings. Misiorowski had started the opener of each of the Brewers’ three postseason series; now he gets a potential clinching start.
He allowed one run on four hits across five innings in World Series Game 1. That performance helped Milwaukee earn the first of its three victories, and Wednesday brings a second look at the Tampa Bay lineup with the championship still within one win.
The Brewers had been close to finishing the job Tuesday. Rookie Cooper Pratt homered in the top of the 12th to create a 3–2 lead, but the Rays rallied in the bottom half. Ben Williamson’s walk-off single completed the comeback, ensuring the series would continue for at least another night.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s report said manager Pat Murphy retained confidence in his staff after that result. Misiorowski’s availability gives Milwaukee an established starting option following a long game that required extensive bullpen work on both sides.
Tampa Bay has a different preparation problem. Its Game 4 effort included two relief innings from Nick Martinez, who had been a candidate to start Wednesday. The Rays had not named a starter in MLB’s morning preview, leaving the composition of their pitching plan as a separate developing question.
A Milwaukee victory ends the series. A Tampa Bay victory would force Game 6 in Milwaukee on Friday and give both clubs Thursday off before the next contest.
The Brewers therefore enter with a favorable series position and their ace available, but the Rays have already demonstrated that being one out or one inning from elimination does not settle the result. Game 5 supplies Milwaukee’s next chance to turn that advantage into a title.
