Matteo Berrettini Beats Etcheverry to Advance in Vienna
Berrettini won 6–3, 6–4 and awaits the winner of Flavio Cobolli’s first-round match against Grigor Dimitrov.

Matteo Berrettini defeated Tomás Martín Etcheverry 6–3, 6–4 in the first round of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna on Monday, October 26. The Italian advanced in one hour and 23 minutes at the indoor hard-court ATP 500 tournament.
The official ATP draw confirms the straight-sets result. Berrettini will next face either fourth seed Flavio Cobolli or wild card Grigor Dimitrov, whose first-round match occupies the adjoining draw position.
This is Berrettini’s fifth appearance in Vienna. He reached at least the quarterfinals in each of his previous four visits, according to the tournament’s Monday report. His opening win leaves him one further victory away from returning to that stage.
“I started the match very focused, served well and put him under pressure early,” Berrettini said in the tournament’s published account.
The victory puts Berrettini into the last 16 of a 32-player singles draw. Vienna runs through November 1, alongside the ATP 500 tournament in Basel. The week’s indoor schedule and viewing routes cover both events.
