Stephen Curry Passes Dominique Wilkins As Warriors Erase 25-Point Deficit to Beat Lakers
Curry’s shooting and a rally from 25 down carried Golden State past the Lakers as the Warriors star climbed the NBA’s career scoring list.

Stephen Curry scored 31 points as Golden State erased a 25-point deficit and beat the Los Angeles Lakers 112–95 Friday at Chase Center in both teams’ NBA Cup opener.
Curry passed Dominique Wilkins for 18th in career scoring. His eight three-pointers on 14 attempts accounted for 24 points, and he added six assists and four rebounds while committing only two turnovers in 31 minutes.
The Lakers led 38–15 after the first quarter and stretched the margin to 40–15 early in the second. Golden State answered with its own 38–15 quarter, bringing the game level at 53 by halftime before winning both remaining periods.
That reversal continued after the break. The Warriors took an 85–80 advantage into the fourth and held Los Angeles to 15 points in the final period. Across the last three quarters, Golden State outscored the visitors 97–57. Curry scored nine in that final quarter, combining two three-pointers with a jumper and a technical free throw.
The final statistical record shows why Curry had enough help. Brandin Podziemski supplied 21 points and six assists. De’Anthony Melton scored 16 off the bench, while Georges Niang contributed 11 and made all three of his attempts from beyond the arc.
Golden State finished with 22 three-pointers in 46 attempts, twice the Lakers’ total makes. Los Angeles hit 11 of 39. The Warriors also recorded 31 assists on 38 baskets, with Draymond Green delivering nine assists despite scoring just two points.
Luka Dončić led Los Angeles with 37 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Austin Reaves added 21, but the Lakers fell to 4–2. Golden State improved to 3–3 and leveled the season series.
Curry followed his 44-point Minnesota performance with another productive shooting night. His Friday total came on 11-of-23 shooting, including a perfect one-for-one trip to the free-throw line.
