Ryan Garcia Targets February 6, 2027, Fight Date As Mayweather Talks Continue
Garcia says he intends to return on February 6 with or without Floyd Mayweather, while their proposed matchup remains unfinalized.

Ryan Garcia says he intends to fight on February 6, 2027, with or without Floyd Mayweather, adding a target date to discussions that have not produced a finalized matchup, according to BoxingScene’s Saturday report.
Garcia’s latest social media message urged Mayweather to complete an agreement and said he would proceed with another fight if the proposed contest did not happen. The report did not establish a signed bout, confirmed venue or opponent for that date.
The comments follow Garcia’s October 22 claim that a Mayweather fight was being discussed. He shared what appeared to be an image from a video call and said the proposed contest was real, BoxingScene reported at the time. Those were Garcia’s public assertions about the talks.
Garcia’s most recent completed fight came September 12 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where he stopped Conor Benn at 1:25 of the second round. The official Zuffa Boxing results record the bout as a successful first defense of Garcia’s welterweight championship. Benn had landed a left to the body during exchanges in the opening round.
A right hand dropped Benn in the second round, and Garcia followed with a sequence of punches after the challenger regained his feet. Referee Thomas Taylor stopped the contest, giving Garcia his 26th victory and 21st knockout, according to the official event report.
Afterward, Garcia called for fights with Teofimo Lopez and Devin Haney, who were at ringside. Those callouts and the later Mayweather discussion represent possible next opponents rather than a completed announcement for his February return.
Mayweather, 49, last boxed professionally against Conor McGregor in August 2017 and finished that career unbeaten in 50 fights. He has since discussed other exhibition commitments, complicating the picture around a competitive return. Garcia’s latest remarks place the emphasis on keeping his own intended date.
