The Dallas Cowboys scored the final 18 points to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-21 on Monday, Oct. 26, at Lincoln Financial Field. Dak Prescott threw three touchdown passes, two to CeeDee Lamb, and Javonte Williams rushed for 155 yards as Dallas erased Philadelphia’s last lead and shut out the Eagles in the fourth quarter.

Dallas improved to 3-4. Philadelphia fell to 2-5 with its fifth consecutive loss, despite taking a 21-20 lead on a 17-play touchdown drive that consumed most of the third quarter. The Cowboys answered on their next possession and stayed ahead through a fourth-quarter interception, a stop on downs and Williams’ late touchdown.

Replay Reversal Preserves Dallas’ Go-Ahead Drive

The decisive Dallas possession nearly became a Philadelphia defensive touchdown. With the Eagles leading 21-20 and 2:17 remaining in the third quarter, the initial ruling on a Prescott play from the Philadelphia 18 was a fumble. Riq Woolen recovered and returned it 73 yards to the end zone. Replay reversed the backward-pass ruling to an incomplete pass, keeping the ball with Dallas.

Tyler Goodson gained 2 yards on the ensuing third-and-1. Prescott then found Lamb for a 16-yard touchdown with 1:30 left in the quarter and ran in the two-point conversion, making it 28-21. Dallas had answered Philadelphia’s longest possession with a nine-play, 61-yard drive that also included a 16-yard completion to Ryan Flournoy and a defensive holding penalty on Woolen that erased an earlier third-down incompletion.

Philadelphia’s response went the other way. A holding penalty and a Donovan Ezeiruaku sack put the Eagles behind the chains, and Dallas Goedert’s 13-yard reception on third-and-15 left them short of a first down. Dallas took over at its 16 and moved 78 yards, with Williams breaking a 34-yard run. Brandon Aubrey’s 24-yard field goal made it 31-21 with 9:10 remaining.

Dallas Closes the Door

The Eagles reached the Dallas 32 on their next possession before DeMarvion Overshown intercepted Tanner McKee’s pass intended for Goedert. Philadelphia’s defense forced a punt, but the offense could not turn that stop into points. Quinnen Williams sacked McKee for an 8-yard loss, and McKee’s fourth-and-9 pass toward Hollywood Brown fell incomplete, giving Dallas a short field with 4:48 left.

Javonte Williams carried on all six plays of the final Dallas touchdown drive, including a 9-yard gain on third-and-9. His 2-yard touchdown with 2:21 remaining completed the scoring. Dallas finished with 204 rushing yards on 38 attempts and 416 total yards, compared with Philadelphia’s 321. Williams accounted for 155 yards on 25 carries, averaging 6.2 per attempt.

Prescott completed 15 of 27 passes for 212 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions, and Philadelphia did not sack him. Lamb caught five passes for 74 yards and two scores. Flournoy added 70 yards on four catches, while George Pickens had four receptions for 57 yards and a touchdown. Dallas converted eight of 13 third downs and its only fourth-down attempt, giving its offense ways to extend possessions alongside Williams’ running.

Philadelphia’s Long Drive Produces Its Last Lead

The Eagles opened the second half at their own 16 and held the ball for 9:16. McKee converted a third-and-5 with a 19-yard pass to Brown, then found Makai Lemon for 15 yards on fourth-and-1 at the Dallas 39. Philadelphia kept moving through another third-down completion to Goedert and a third-and-4 run by Dameon Pierce that reached the Dallas 1.

Quinnen Williams pushed Pierce back 3 yards on the next play, but McKee eventually found Lemon for a 4-yard touchdown on third-and-goal. Jake Elliott’s extra point put Philadelphia ahead 21-20 with 5:44 left in the third quarter. Lemon finished with seven catches for 67 yards. McKee went 23 of 35 for 211 yards, one touchdown and one interception; two sacks reduced Philadelphia’s net passing total to 200 yards.

The Eagles scored touchdowns on all three red-zone possessions. Their difficulty came after that third score: a punt, an interception and a turnover on downs preceded an empty final possession. They finished five of 12 on third down and two of three on fourth down.

A Back-and-Forth First Half

Aubrey opened the scoring with a 55-yard field goal. Saquon Barkley answered with an 8-yard touchdown run to finish a four-play, 75-yard Philadelphia drive that included his 29-yard run and a 21-yard completion to Lemon. Dallas regained the lead on Prescott’s 9-yard touchdown pass to Lamb, with Flournoy’s 35-yard reception helping the Cowboys travel 82 yards in nine plays.

Philadelphia went back ahead 14-10 on Pierce’s 5-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. Dallas penalties assisted that possession, including an offside call that wiped out a Cowboys recovery of an aborted McKee snap and a roughing-the-passer penalty near the goal line.

Goodson’s apparent 91-yard kickoff-return touchdown was then nullified by a holding penalty on Justin Barron. Dallas still drove 81 yards in 14 plays, taking 7:48 off the clock before Prescott’s 21-yard touchdown pass to Pickens made it 17-14. After an exchange of punts, the Cowboys covered 78 yards in the final 1:14 of the half. Completions of 21 yards to Pickens and 30 to Lamb set up Aubrey’s 27-yard field goal for a 20-14 halftime lead.

Postgame Comments

Dallas Gets Back to Its Running Game

Javonte Williams described the win as a return to the balance Dallas had been seeking. In comments published by the Cowboys after the game, he credited the offensive line for creating open lanes and gave fellow running back Tyler Goodson credit for his contribution. Williams said Brian Schottenheimer had stressed reaching at least 25 rushing attempts during the week.

“We were just trying to get back to a balanced offense,” Williams said. His 25 carries produced a career-best 155 yards, and Dallas finished with 38 rushing attempts.

Dak Prescott praised Williams as “one of the best teammates” and said the running back needed repeated opportunities to settle into the game. Prescott pointed to Williams’ ability to stretch short gains into more productive runs when he could trust the blocking in front of him.

Sirianni Points to the Run Defense

Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni put the focus on coaching and execution after Dallas ran for 204 yards. “We got to do a better job coaching. We got to do a better job executing, getting off blocks, tackling,” he said in the Eagles’ postgame report. His assessment also included missed tackles and the need to defeat blocks.

McKee credited offensive coordinator Sean Mannion and the offense’s execution for the sustained touchdown drives. He described the conversions that kept the second-half scoring march alive as the standard Philadelphia expects. Barkley said he needed to get healthy and praised Mitchell and Pierce for their contributions behind him.

Personnel and What Comes Next

Barkley finished with 62 yards and a touchdown on seven carries, while Pierce rushed 14 times for 47 yards and a touchdown. McKee again started with Jalen Hurts unavailable. Philadelphia’s 121 rushing yards came on 25 attempts; Dallas’ advantage on the ground was 83 yards.

Dallas next hosts the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 1, at 1 p.m. EST. Philadelphia visits the Washington Commanders that night at 8:20 p.m. EST.
